Costa Rica, National Academy of Sciences (ANC)

The Academia Nacional de Ciencias has been a member since 1996.

The Academia Nacional de Ciencias, chartered by Government Decree N° 21358-MICIT in 1992, was ratified by the Costa Rican Congress by Law in 1995. It is both an honorific and scientific society and an adviser to the government, congress and public and private institutions. Its main objective is to promote scientific and technological development in the country. The charter members are scientists in the basic sciences, medicine, microbiology, agronomy and engineering. The CRNAS organizes symposia, workshops and seminars, has had a yearly publication since 1995, and maintains contact with scientific academies and other national and foreign academic institutions.
