ALMI aims to promote scientific culture of excellence and the advancement of science in Indonesia.


The Indonesian Young Academy of Science (ALMI) is an organization for Indonesian prominent young scientists. ALMI was established as an autonomous organ of Indonesian Academy of Science (AIPI) and recognized formally by 2016’s the Republic of Indonesia President Decree. In general, ALMI aims to promote scientific culture of excellence and the advancement of science in Indonesia. It has four missions, first, to promote the advancement of frontiers science through interdisciplinary collaboration efforts among Indonesian young scientists. Second, to promote scientific temper and scientific culture of excellence among Indonesian young generation. Third, to encourage the role of science in supporting public policy making processes. And fourth, to be part of global young academy movement. ALMI has been actively promote strategic academic programs in order to achieve its missions, especially through four organization of working groups, which are Frontier of Science, Science and Society, Science and Policy, and Science and Education.

ALMI has been also defending scientist’s rights and academic freedom, since these are deemed as fundamental values in promoting science for not merely policy changes, but also progressive and meaningful science for humanity.

The Indonesian Young Science Academy (ALMI) has a very strong role in directing the national science agenda in Indonesia. Becoming the Member of ISC will further strengthen the role of ALMI globally in the field of advancing science. We seek to contribute significantly to the ISC’s vision of science as a global public good.
