Kenya, Kenya National Academy of Sciences (KNAS)

The Kenya National Academy of Sciences has been a member since 1980.

The Kenya National Academy of Sciences (KNAS) is a learned, non-political, non-sectarian and non-profit body registered by the Registrar of Societies in 1983. With a membership of about 70 scientists, the KNAS publishes a scholarly journal, bestows prizes and scientific awards, organizes meetings, conferences and symposia, and maintains contact with scientific associations nationally and internationally. The KNAS is established under the auspices of the National Council for Science and Technology (NCST), which is a governmental organization, and derives its authority from the Government through the NCST. The KNAS promotes the advancement of scientific and technological endeavour and achievement in Kenya, and recognizes outstanding contributions in the field of science and technology.
