The Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia brings together an elected body of over 700 of Australia’s leading researchers and professionals across the social science disciplines.
An independent, not-for-profit organisation, the Academy draws on the expertise of its Fellowship to provide practical, evidence-based advice to governments and industry on important social policy issues. It actively promotes understanding of the social sciences and champions excellence across its many fields of learning. It is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion in the social sciences; particularly the involvement and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Since it was established in 1971 the Academy’s Fellows have contributed significantly to dialogue on issues impacting human society, our social relationships and the systems that govern our daily lives.
