Adebayo Olukoshi

Professor Olukoshi holds a BSc in International Studies from Ahmadu Bello University and a PhD in Politics from Leeds University. He has previously served as Director of Research at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Research Programme Coordinator at the Nordic Africa Institute, Senior Programme Staff at the South Centre, Executive Secretary of the African Social Science Council CODESRIA, Director of the UN African Institute for Economic Development and Planning IDEP,, Interim Director of the African Governance Institute, and Director for Africa and West Asia at International IDEA. His research interest has mainly centred on the political economy of development and governance, a field in which he has published and lectured extensively over the last three decades. He serves on the boards of various academic institutions, research think tanks, and scholarly journals. At the Wits School of Governance . He holds an Honorary Professorship at the University of Edinburgh and an Honorary Fellowship at the Nordic Africa Institute. At the Wits School of Governance, he is building a research programme on rethinking democracy and development in Africa and the global South.
