Alberto Martinelli, Professor Emeritus of Political Science and Sociology and former Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Milan. Past-President International Social Science Council. and International Sociological Association. President of AEM Foundation (a2aGroup). Vice-President of Science for Peace of the Umberto Veronesi Foundation. Member of Lombardy Academy of Sciences, Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.

Present research interests focus on transformations to sustainable development; the European Union; American society; nationalism and populism; states,markets,communities and global governance; the social integration of immigrants.
