Hanna Dabkowska

-Past President of the International Union of Crystallography and
-Emeritus Research Scientist at the Brockhouse Institute for Materials Research, McMaster University, Canada
-ISC Fellow

Hanna Dabkowska is a Canadian/Polish crystal grower, crystallographer and materials scientist. She is the Immediate Past President of the International Union of Crystallography (IUCr) and an emeritus Research Scientist at the Brockhouse Institute for Materials Research, McMaster University, Canada.

Dabkowska’s research interests include crystal growth and characterization of oxide materials, phase diagrams, and structural and magnetic properties of single crystals. Particularly the research includes crystal growth and characterization of oxide materials by different methods, search for new single crystals of oxides and their solid solutions, investigation of phase diagrams by different techniques, investigation of structural and magnetic properties of single crystals by X-ray and neutron techniques. She has published over 300 research papers and 4 book chapters on these topics.
She is a highly respected scientist and leader in the fields of crystallography and crystal growth. Her work has had a major impact on the development of new materials for a wide range of applications, including electronics, energy, and medicine.

Dabkowska is a Fellow of the American Crystallographic Association (ACA). Apart from leadership positions in IUCr, including the President of the IUCr she recently served as the vice President of International Organization for Crystal Growth (IOCG).
