Karina Batthyány is Executive Secretary at CLACSO (Latin American Council of Social Sciences), Full Professor and researcher at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of the Republic (Uruguay).

Batthyány holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Versailles Saint Quentin Yvelines (France, 2000-2003) and the University of the Republic, Uruguay (1987-1992). She is also a member of the National Research System in Uruguay.

Batthyány presentated her work worldwide and authored more than 130 publications on issues of gender, public policies, unpaid work, politics of care in Latin America, state feminism and care models in Latin America and Europe, health, poverty in Latin America, and social analysis of the pandemic. She also leads coordination efforts of international research working groups on those issues.
