Nick is Co-Lead of the Global Risk Modelling Alliance, and Coordinator of the Risk Modelling Steering Group of the Insurance Development Forum (IDF). These programmes accelerate use of risk insight in vulnerable economies, using open data standards and insurance modelling principles to build resilience and unlock risk finance. He previously led the UK Met Office’s programme supporting climate and disaster risk finance, following earlier careers in strategy and risk in the military and private sectors. Nick is Chair of the Board of Trustees of MapAction, the humanitarian geospatial charity, which supports NGOs and CSOs globally in anticipatory action and emergency response. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society in the UK.
