Roula M. Abdel-Massih is the Director of Product Development at ISSA/GBAC and a Community Educator Clinical Professor at Central Michigan University (USA). She earned her B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the American University of Beirut and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University of Glasgow (UK, 2001).
As a TWAS Young Affiliate (2011-2015) and a member of various professional societies, Roula has a distinguished career, with over 40 papers in globally recognized journals, two book chapters, and presentations at about 50 international conferences. She secured grants from international agencies, supervised 30+ graduate students, and received commendations from organizations such as The New York Academy of Sciences and STS that selected her for the 2015 Future Leaders program.

Roula’s notable accomplishments include being elected as an education fellow in the US National Academies in the Life Sciences (2015-2016), completing the APLD Program at Harvard (May 2016), and receiving the TYAN Collaborative Grant Award at Emory (2019). She is an IFBA Certified Professional in Biorisk Management (Sept 2019) and serves as an editor for various journals. Roula also co-chaired the Advocacy task team for Science in Exile Initiative and is the co-chair of the TWAS Young Affiliates Network (Nov. 2021).
