Regional consultative meetings: information for ISC Members

Meetings will bring together ISC members in Africa, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region.

In its Action Plan 2019 -2021 Advancing Science as a Global Public Good, the International Science Council outlines a strategy to strengthen its presence and impact in regions of the world. Central to this strategy is the creation of a single global secretariat headquartered in Paris, France, with branches in different parts of the world, that would work as one team to deliver the global ISC strategy and action plans.

In the coming weeks and months, the ISC will hold three consultative meetings for its members in Africa, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. The purpose of these meetings is to work with members to ensure that the new global secretariat meets the needs of the Council and strengthens membership engagement everywhere. The regional meetings aim to:

  • get inputs from members on their priorities for the Action Plan
  • identify strategies for increased impact of the Council in the region
  • provide feedback on the proposed regional governance structures

ISC Members should already have received an email to their designated contact points inviting them to participate in the following meetings:

Latin America and the Caribbean

Asia and Pacific Consultative Meeting

The meeting originally foreseen for 6-7 April 2020 has now been postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The ISC and the Academy of Sciences, Malaysia, will announce a new date as soon as possible.

Please note that the ISC is closely monitoring the fast-moving developments of the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak and is taking its direction from the World Health Organization and national governments. Should the meetings be postponed, the ISC will inform participants at the earliest possible time.
