Philippines, National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP)

The National Research Council of the Philippines has been a Member since 1933.

The National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP), an attached agency to the Department of Science and Technology, is an advisory body to the Philippine Government on matters of national interest. This week we commemorate World Science Day for Peace and Development, celebrated on 10 November every year. The ISC, which brings together science organizations in all regions of the world, is a unified and strong global voice for science, promoting scientific collaboration across geographical and disciplinary borders. As members of the global scientific community, we celebrate the remarkable contribution of science and technology to advancing human development. At the same time, we recognize the very real suffering of civilians affected by conflicts around the world, throughout history to the present day, where scientific knowledge and technology are used against the public good.

Let us reflect as the scientific community on how to foster the role of science in achieving peace. Our hearts go out to victims of conflict who endure unimaginable hardship, and our concern extends to the world at large, for which we nurture a vision of life within sustainable social and planetary boundaries, and harmony amongst and between people and nature.
