Maya researcher from Yucatán, México. DPhil in Social Anthropology from the University of Sussex. Assistant Professor of Indigenous Studies in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Bishop’s University in Canada. His research examines the creative ways in which Indigenous Peoples employ digital media and technologies to reclaim and mobilize their languages and knowledge. He has investigated how Indigenous artistic forms (music, cinema, performance) contribute to anti-racism and decolonization efforts. He has worked collaboratively with Indigenous organizations in Mexico, Ecuador, Belize and Guatemala, and has been a researcher at Royal Holloway University of London, CIESAS Mexico, and Leiden University in the Netherlands.
