Sarah is Operations Director at the ISC since January 2023 and Secretary to the Governing Board since 2020. From 2014 to 2022 she managed the pioneering Transformations to Sustainability Programme, which supported transdisciplinary, North–South research on the social dimensions of global environmental change and its solutions.
She has a degree in English Literature and German Studies, and two Masters degrees – in Education Sciences (Trinity College Dublin) and Science & Technology Studies (University of Strasbourg). She came to the ISC with the International Social Science Council, and previously worked at the European Science Foundation, the Irish Research Council for Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission.
