ISC Fellowship

The Fellowship is an honour awarded to those who champion science in society and in policy-making.

As scientific experts and knowledge brokers, they uphold the ISC’s vision of science as a global public good and of knowledge that is shared openly and freely to all who wish to scrutinize and use it to further understanding. Through their scientific leadership and work to promote science in the public domain, the Fellows support the ISC’s mission to act as the global voice for science.

“We want to clearly recognize those scientists who have and continue to contribute to the global voice for science. In that way we expand our footprint and our voice. Science needs champions, not just those who receive high profile scientific prizes but champions who can give voice to the global voice for science.

Peter Gluckman, President of the International Science Council.

In 2022, the ISC implemented an annual process to seek nominations from ISC Members and partners, with the goal of expanding the Fellowship to include around 600 active Fellows. The next call for nominations will open in 2024.

ISC Fellows

The ISC announced the creation of the Fellowship in June 2022 and appointed 66 inaugural Foundation Fellows, each recognized for their outstanding contributions to promoting science as a global public good.

In December 2022, the ISC awarded a further 57 Fellowships, as well as three Honorary Fellowships for the inaugural and outgoing ISC Patrons. Another 100 Fellows were appointed in December 2023.
