ISC Early and Mid-Career Researchers (EMCR) Forum: Latin America and the Caribbean

We invite Young Academies, Young Scientific Groups, ISC Members and Early and Mid-Career Researchers (based in Santiago de Chile) to join us for the International Science Council | Early and Mid-Career Researchers (EMCR) Forum: Latin America and the Caribbean, hosted during the Global Knowledge Dialogue event in Santiago de Chile. The ISC EMCR Forum is co-organized with the Global Young Academy and will feature young scientists from Latin America and the Caribbean and impact-case studies of their regional initiatives, together with a discussion about EMCR challenges and opportunities in the region.

The event will provide a space for exchange, learning and collaboration among young members of the ISC and the wider EMCR community, and it will also enable young scientists to coordinate among themselves to have a stronger voice and representation in the ISC strategy, activities and in the international scientific community. The event will also feature a presentation of the ISC Regional Focal Point for Latin America and the Caribbean activities in the region.

Global Knowledge Dialogue event in Santiago de Chile

The ISC EMCR Forum is a side-event of the Global Knowledge Dialogue (GKD) for Latin America and the Caribbean which will be held between 9-11 April 2024 in Santiago de Chile. The ISC Regional Focal Point for Latin America and the Caribbean will host this event. Presidents, executive officers, ISC focal points and key decision makers of ISC Members in the region, along with ISC Fellows and representatives of ISC affiliated bodies will gather during this GKD to work towards providing a powerful and credible voice for science from Latin America and the Caribbean on the global stage. More than 10 young scientific groups and EMCR representatives will join this event in person.

ISC Young Academies and Associations Membership

In 2022 the ISC invited Young Academies and Associations to apply for affiliate membership in the spirit of promoting the participation of Early and Mid-Career Researchers in its activities and governance, thereby enlarging opportunities for EMCR to be represented in international science. Seventeen new Members consequently joined the ISC in 2023, with new Members continuing to join on an ongoing basis.
