Elections Committee
The role of the Nominations and Elections Committee is central to ensuring quality and diversity in the composition of the Governing Board, honouring principles of multi-disciplinary representation, as well as regional and gender diversity. With regard to disciplinary representation, the committee will need to pay particular attention to ensuring there is broad representation of different fields of science on the Governing Board.
The responsibilities of the Nominations and Elections Committee include:
- Organizing the nomination and sifting process so as to produce a limited shortlist of candidates for all positions (except for the President) in the ISC Governing Board, to be elected at the next ordinary ISC General Assembly
- Ensuring that the membership of the Governing Board reflects the range of disciplinary domains in the ISC’s membership base; the membership of the Governing Board should also reflect regional and gender diversity
- Ensuring that the Governing Board members are individuals of the highest calibre who have made widely recognized contributions to the scientific endeavour
