The International Science Council convenes the scientific expertise and resources needed to lead on catalyzing, incubating and coordinating impactful international action on issues of major scientific and public importance. The Council’s Action Plan forms a practical framework for the ISC’s work until the end of 2024, and to work towards the ISC’s vision of science as a global public good.
The ISC works at the intersection of science and policy, particularly at the UN level, to ensure that science is integrated into international policy development and that relevant policies take into account both scientific knowledge and the needs of science.
The Global Knowledge Dialogue (GKD) is a series of events the ISC is holding through the various regions of the world, which started in Africa at the World Science Forum in 2022 and continued in 2023 globally at the Mid-term meeting of ISC Members in May in Paris, and regionally in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at the GKD Asia-Pacific.
The GKD for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) is hosted by the ISC Regional Focal Point for Latin America and the Caribbean and its Liaison Committee, the Colombian Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences, the Chilean Academy of Sciences, and the International Science Council, and will consist of three blocks including:

The GKD-LAC programme aims for a variety of sessions including a high-level diplomatic forum, engaging panels that are coupled with interactive breakout sessions and cultural events.
